ANKOS 2012- Turkey

ANKOS is an annual event that TechKnowledge makes sure to participate in every year. This year makes the fifth time for TechKnowledge to participate in ANKOS. The event was held this year at Fırat University in Elazığ, Turkey, for three days, from 26 to 28 April, 2012. The partners and the organizers both expressed how impressed they were in Techknowledge existence in the conference, as well they emphasized on the importance of the data bases offered by TechKnowledge and its effect on improving the research quality and results in both the academic and the industrial sectors.

ANKOS was established in 2000 with 12 member libraries and three database subscriptions. Faculty members at universities all over Turkey as well as the staff of some research institutions now have access to bibliographic and full-text databases in science, mathematics, social sciences, humanities, medicine, agriculture, business, education, informatics and computing, and engineering. ANKOS holds an Annual Meeting which all members and firms attend.

TechKnowledge has been filling the gap of providing high-caliber knowledge and information in electronic form in the Middle East and North Africa since 2004. The company’s mission is “To serve as the leading provider of specialized knowledge solutions, contributing to our society through diversity of material and consistency of quality.”

Working in conjunction with an array of well respected, top publishers from around the world, we expand the availability of specialized electronic content to academic and corporate libraries, hospitals, and government agencies providing not only electronic material and databases, but also training and support.
SLA-AGC 2012 - Bahrain

TechKnowledge participated for the eighth time in SLA-AGC 18th Annual Conference & Exhibition. That was held at the Gulf Hotel, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, during 12 and 14 of March, 2012.
SLA is one of the most important events that we participate in, because it provides a highly interactive and professional platform for exchanging concepts, visions, progress, and welcomes any innovative researchers, and approach participation from relevant organizations to be their partners in this significant gathering. So we get this great opportunity to meet with librarians and discuss their needs, and for the publishers as well to have discussions with the librarians.
Like every other year, we represented the world’s most important and leading publishers including Ovid, cas, McGraw Hill, ASC, Al Manhal, Newspaper direct, IG Publishing, Alexander Street Press,  Unbound Medicine, Micromedex, Gale,  ASTM, RSC, IEEE and many others.
The Special Libraries Association "SLA" is a specialized global organization founded in 1909 with Head Office in the United States. It adopts innovations of specialists and professionals in the field of information and libraries. SLA serves more than 12,000 members in 83 countries in the information profession, including corporate, academic and government information specialists. SLA promotes and strengthens its members through learning, incentives, and networking initiatives.
The aim of each conference is not only to provide a forum for discussion and learning, but also an opportunity for delegates to develop new business relationships.
At TechKnowledge booth we worked to develop professional relationships between information specialist and Libraries in the region, we also worked to promote and raise levels of the Libraries and Information Centers to meet the profession challenges. We did our best to hear and respond to profession requirements and needs of Libraries and Information Specialists. Last but not least we organized meetings for the Librarians with the publishers and the Information Specialists to give both sides the chance to hear the thoughts and the ideas directly from each other, and to work on the future plans as well.

We are glad to announce that TechKnowledge has taken a step forward into a whole new phase. As the Saudi market is so vital and in continuous growth, TechKnowledge decided to partner a local representative in the market.
There are many good reasons behind choosing Rushd. As Rushd is a leading company in the field, with a great history and experience, a well established reputation, and a very well skilled staff. Rushd have great knowledge in libraries, products, and training providing. It also has branches in key cities in the Saudi Arabia, which will make the expansion easier in the area.

As TechKnowledge has been there in the Saudi market for five years now, the time has become to move into a new phase. TechKnowledge is very proud of our new member who joined our Academic publishing partners, Alexander Street Press.

From the beginning, they built products that contained quality in-copyright and previously unpublished material. They also indexed each database with our unique Semantic Indexing, which allowed scholars to search and analyze our materials as never before.

MICROMEDEX Workshop

TechKnowledge gladly held Thomson Reuters Micromedex workshop series in four different locations of three different countries, UAE, Jordan and Lebanon, between the dates 29th of April and 5th of May.
Thomson Reuters Micromedex is the most reliable, trusted name in evidence-based clinical reference. Micromedex leads the industry because of its unmatched editorial process, reliable content, and innovative user-friendly enhancements.

The workshops were attended by the most important universities, hospitals and health care institutes in each country, to get the chance to benefit from the intensive training and presentations given by experts about the specifications and special features of the databases that Micromedex provide.

Those were some very successful events that TechKnowledge holds, for the great value they had and for the benefits it provided to all of the attendees.

Enhancing and Improving the Iraqi Libraries Workshop 2011

Techknowledge participated in the "Enhancing and Improving The Iraqi Libraries Workshop" that was held in Beirut, Lebanon, on the 29th of September, 2011.
The workshop concentrated and focused on the importance of the e-libraries and electronic databases for academic institutes and how they can have a strong positively effect on them. It also discussed the latest technologies used in the electronic publishing world and how to deal with and use them, and the development of those processes.
The workshop was of great success and showed very good results because of the great scientific backgrounds of the attendees, who were from the very important well known universities in Iraq. It was a great opportunity for TechKnwledge team as well to meet up with those high profile academics and librarians.
The institutes that participated and attended the workshop were:

EAHIL 2011

The European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL) is an active professional association uniting and motivating librarians and information officers working in medical and health science libraries in Europe.
EAHIL encourages professional development, improves cooperation and enables exchanges of experience amongst its members. The association counts about 1 000 members from about 30 European countries.
This workshop is the first EAHIL event to be held in Turkey, at Koç University in Istanbul between 5 and 8 July 2011. Over 170 delegates attended the event this year from 38 different countries. This cultural variety goes very well with Turkey’s cultural fabric made up of a rich combination of diverse cultures rooted deeply in history.
This year’s Workshop consisted of 11 continuing education courses, 3 plenary papers, 21 papers presentations and 23 posters with the theme “Active Learning and Research Partners in Health”. The programme featured the Best Posters session, a Round Table discussion and a webinar this year as prominent novelties.
Techknowledge participated in the EAHIL 2011 Workshop, our consultants Altan Gürsel and Emel Kanyak attended the event, were they attended the very beneficial sessions, and had the opportunity to meet with librarians from Turkey and from many other different countries from around the world, to discuss the latest information and potential upcoming projects.
TechKnowledge Registers Its Office In Amman

TechKnowledge officially registered its offices for Amman branch, on Tuesday May 10th, which embraces so far eight very professional enthusiastic and well experienced employees, and hiring more very soon to cover all the disciplines of knowledge that TechKnowledge provides.

The market in the Middle East is huge and always on the rise, and the demand on electronic services is getting higher. Jordan as a rapidly developing country, and with its strategic location in the center of the Middle East, will give TechKnowledge higher horizons to expand and spread all over the area, to grant institutes of different professions with its distinguished services, through its specialized consultants, who can advise and assist the institutes in specifying their library needs to increase the knowledge, awareness and the skills of their members.

Techknowledge currently have offices in Dubai, Jeddah and Jordan, and is very eager about this step that will certainly be effective and with great revenue on the company’s dimensions and reputation. TechKnowledge is also looking forward for more expansion in the area, since our expansion enables it to continue to improve the quality of the extensive onsite training as well as onsite personalized customer service and support.

The ANKOS 2011, Annual Conference and Exhibition took place for 4 days with events and programs at Mugla University in Mugla, Turkey, from 28 April to 01 May, 2011.TechKnowledge participation is one set event on our calendar. Our team makes sure to attend and effectively participate in this event, along with 425participants from different institutes all over the world.

Rany Al Baghdadi, Altan Gursel and Emel Kaynak, from TechKnowledge, attended the event,which makes it TechKnowledge’s fourth participation.

We represented the well known publisher McGraw Hill that has been a leader in providing trusted information and analysis for well over a century. From the Industrial Revolution to the Internet Revolution, The McGraw-Hill Companies has filled a critical need for information and insight by helping individuals and businesses in a broad range of markets.

As we also represented CAS (Chemical Abstract Service), along with Ms. Yvonne Pope from CAS, which is the global leader in chemical information, and a division of the American Chemical Society, provides the most comprehensive databases of disclosed research in chemistry and related sciences, including the world's largest collection of substance information, the CAS REGISTRYSM. CAS makes this information available to researchers through SciFinder and STN, the best search and retrieval tools for scientists and information professionals.

They had a chance to come together with the all participants which gave them the opportunity to inform ANKOS members about our new products and services, as well as the enhancements we made to our present products and services, and had the chance to meet your customers at our stand to discuss with them all the details, share with them the important information, and answer any inquiries they have.
